q: How do i change my password?

A: When you first sign up to Pearlfinders, you’ll receive a username default password - we recommend changing this after you log-in.

Click the three dots in the top left hand side of your dashboard to bring up your left-hand tool bar. Then hit “change password” and enter your current password, followed by what you want to change it to.

q: I’VE FORGOTTEN MY PASSWORD - How do I reset IT?

A: If you’ve forgotten your password, it’s easy to reset this and get back up and running. Click here and enter your username or password to receive an email with a reset link.

q: What can i control in my User Settings area?

A: Your User Settings area is where you can personalise the content that appears in your feed. Here’s what you can change:

  • Regional Settings - Change the date format of our reports

  • Currency - Change the currency display for company financial and media spend data

  • Calendar sharing - Enable sharing of your Pearlfinders Review Diary with other colleagues, or opt to view events from your colleagues shared calendars

  • Email alerts - Manage which Pearlfinders content you receive email notifications for: daily content highlights, weekly content highlights and newly published content on companies on your company lists.

  • Geographic target - If you subscribe to products across multiple regions, manage which regions you see content from here.

  • Products/products - If you subscribe to multiple Pearlfinders products, manage which products you see content from here.

  • Sectors - Set your feed to only display content on brands in your target sectors here

  • Disciplines/specialisms - Set your feed to only display content relevant to your area of specialism here

Q: WHAT CAN I USE A LIST FOR?

A: You can use a list to track the latest developments at companies and contacts you’re targeting. Lists are displayed in your dashboard and can be edited via the list management link under Company Lists and Contact Lists in your right-hand tool bar.

Q: What is a company list, and how do i build one?

A: Every time we add new content for a company on one of your lists, it will appear in your dashboard. You can also set alerts to be notified of any new content by email. Follow companies you'd like to work with, their competitors, and your existing clients to get live market intelligence on what they're doing and who they're working with. Q: What is a contact list, and how do I build one?

A: When you build lists of contacts, they will appear in your dashboard. Filter our database of industry contacts to build lists of relevant prospects for the service, solution or content you want to share. All contacts are updated on a rolling cycle and are fully GDPR compliant. Watch a short video on how to build a contact list here.

q: what is a saved search, and how do i build one?

A: Saving a search on Pearlfinders saves you time and ensures quick and easy access to content that’s relevant to your offer. Using our Advanced Search function at the top of your page, filter our database of companies, contacts, reports or decision-maker moves and save this search for regular use. Your Saved Searches are always live and automatically update with the most recent content and data every time you use them. Watch a short video on how to save a search here.

q: How do i manage my existing lists & Searches?

A: Navigate to the left hand tool bar and select the list or search type you want to view. Click on List Management to view, manage, edit or delete any of your saved searches or lists.

Q: How many contacts can i export at once?

A: All Pearlfinders contact data is exportable via csv, but we strongly recommend using our advanced search function to filter our database by relevancy to your services before exporting. To maximise speed and functionality, exports are capped at 2,000 records per download.

Q: is PEARLFINDERS CONTACT DATA GDPR COMPLIANT?

A: Yes. (MT to write)

Q: HOW DO I ENSURE COMPLIANce?

A: One month before GDPR came into force, Pearlfinders hosted an event to help our clients understand what it means in practice and what they can do to ensure they’re compliant.

q: How does Pearlfinders verify its contact data?

A: All Pearlfinders contact data is verified on a 90 day rolling cycle, and email addresses are cleaned to ensure validity. Every decision-maker on Pearlfinders is emailed quarterly to notify them of their inclusion on our database, with the option to be removed.

Q: I’ve emailed a contact from Pearlfinders and it’s bounced, why?

A: There are a number of reasons why a contact’s email address might bounce. These are the most common:

  • The contact has recently left the company and their inbox is no longer in use

  • The contact has changed their name or job role

  • The company has intelligent spam filters which block emails from unknown senders

  • There is content in your email triggering the company’s spam filters

Regardless of the reason, drop an email to subs@pearlfinders.com with details of the contact in question and we’ll endeavour to rectify the situation and find a replacement contact where applicable.

Q: What is the review diary?

A: The Pearlfinders Review Diary allows you to set reminders on Pearlfinders reports, decision-maker moves and briefings for future follow up and alerts you when pieces of content you’ve set reminders for are up for review.

q: What controls the content i see in my Review Diary?

Your default Review Diary contains reminders set by Pearlfinders, but you can also set reminders for yourself based on content you want to prioritise. You can also share your calendar with your colleagues and view their calendars.

Q: How do i best use the review diary?

A: To make the best use of the Review Diary, we recommend adding reminders for content relevant to your company’s offering and sharing your calendar with your colleagues.

For example, a New Business Director at a PR agency might see a decision-maker move for the new Head of PR at Alton Towers and want to set a reminder to follow up in 2 months time, when the new decision-maker will have settled in and will likely be reviewing provisions.

Q: HOW DO I ADD A REMINDER TO THE REVIEW DIARY?

A: There are a few different ways you can add a reminder to your diary:-

  • Reports/Events - Click the Add reminder icon on the right-hand side of the page

  • Decision-maker moves - Identify the decision-maker in Pearlfinders Live and click the diary icon in the right-hand corner of the box

  • Create a new alert from scratch - Click on the Review Diary from your left-hand tool bar and click the DIARY REMINDER button in the top right-hand corner of the page to create a brand new alert from scratch.

Q: CAN I SHARE MY REVIEW DIARY WITH MY COLLEAGUES?

A: Yes, this can be controlled from your setting page. Just navigate to general settings and tick the Share my calendar with colleagues checkbox.

q: CAN i delete items from my review diary?

A: Yes, just click on the item in question and click the DELETE button in the bottom right-hand corner.

Q: how do i save a report?

A: If you find a report that you want to refer back to at a later date, you can save this in your Saved Reports. Click the Add to list icon on the right-hand side of the report in question and select a list to add it to from the dropdown menu, or create a new list category.

q: HOW DO I SHARE A REPORT?

A: Found a Pearlfinders report that’s perfect for a team member or colleague? Click the Share icon on the right-hand side of the report in question and select the person you’d like to share the report with.

Q: WHere can i find my saved reports?

A: In the left-hand tool bar of your platform, click on Saved Reports followed by the report list your looking for or List Management to view your saved reports in full.

q: Can i download a report?

A: Yes, all Pearlfinders reports are available to download in PDF format. Click on the Download icon on the right-hand side of the report in question to start your download.

Q: How do i add a report reminder to my review diary?

A: Click on the Add Reminder icon on the right-hand side of the report in question and enter the date you’d like to put the report in your diary for review, followed by any additional notes. You can also edit the report title to better personalise the content you see in your Review Diary.

Q: HOW DO I KNOW WHO I SHOULD CONTACT AFTER READING A RELEVANT REPORT?

A: At the bottom of every report, we list the contacts we believe are most relevant to reach out to. To see all contacts at the company in question, click the FIND CONTACTS button on the right-hand side of the report, or the SEE ALL CONTACTS > button at the bottom.

Q: HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE COMPANY FEATURED IN THE REPORT?

A: Click on the VIEW COMPANY PROFILE button on the right-hand side of the report to go to the corresponding company page. Here you’ll find details of social media activity, media spend and financials, alongside all our recent reports and contact data for the company in question.

A: New budget-holders increase the probability of a new supplier requirement. This is why we track all major appointments in the marketing, HR and IT departments at companies and upload these to the platform as “ Decision-Maker Moves”.

Q: How can I find out more about the decision maker?

A: Click on any contact NAME link to bring up details of their new job role, email address, phone number, mailing address and LinkedIn profile.

Q: How do I find out more about the company the decision maker has joined?

A: Click on the NEW COMPANY link to go to the corresponding Pearlfinders company page. Here you’ll find details of social media activity, media spend and financials, alongside all our recent reports and contact data for the company in question.

Q: How do I add these decision makers to 'My Contacts'?

A: Once you’ve used our filters to personalise your search in the decision-maker moves tab, tick the checkbox on the far right hand side of the decision-makers you want to add to your list. Then select the ADD TO LIST button and select a category to insert these contacts in to from the dropdown menu, or create a new contact category.

A: Our regular sector, trend and discipline-focused briefings share in-depth insight and data on companies in specific sectors and segments - all in one handy PDF download.

A: Our briefings are ideal if you’re targeting brands in a particular category, or looking to expand into new areas. Each provides a snapshot of companies to watch out for, with all the essential contacts and insight to help you connect.

Q: How does Pearlfinders decide what to create a briefing on?

A: A number of variables influence how we select our briefing topics. Our analysts monitor the business landscape to identify brands, sectors or segments undergoing significant change or development, national holidays which see large involvement from companies (such as International Women’s Day), or new government regulations influencing shifts in spend (such as the UK Sugar Tax).

Q: Can I suggest a briefing topic?

A: Yes. Simply click the “suggest a briefing” button at the bottom of any briefing page, submit your topic and our content team will review it in our next monthly meeting.

q: How do I download a briefing?

A: Navigate to Pearlfinders Live, and select Briefings from the “Report Type” dropdown menu. Select the briefing you want to read and click the download link on the briefing page.

A: If you’re looking to conduct research on a specific company, our company pages share every piece of Pearlfinders insight and data on that company, all in one place. Here you can view the social media activity, media spend, financials, contact data, and all Pearlfinders reports on the company in question.

Q: How can i read reports associated with the company?

A: Navigate to the company page and scroll down to the reports tab. Here you’ll find all reports we’ve published on the company.

Q: How do i export company pages?

A: Click the EXPORT TO PDF button at the top right-hand side of the company page. Then select which sections of the company page and which specific reports you want to export.

Q: How do i save contacts from the company page?

A: On the company page, scroll down to the contacts tab and tick the checkbox on the right-hand side of the contacts you want to add to your list. Click the ADD TO LIST button and select a category to insert these contacts in to from the dropdown menu, or create a new contact category.

q: can i see a company’s competitors?

A: Yes. At the top of the company page, click the FIND SIMILAR COMPANIES button to go to a list of its main competitors. You can easily save this search for future reference.
